Our research culture

The LRC undertakes research that is relevant to the interests and needs of business and public policy makers. We also work in partnership with other universities, consultancy companies and trade bodies, to explore and examine issues in the logistics and transport industries.

We have a strong and diversified research culture with expertise across the full range of supply chain, logistics and freight transport-related subjects.

Much of the Centre’s work is focused on the measures needed to adapt to a changing political, regulatory and natural environment and is concerned with the environmental effects of logistical activity, the measures that companies and government can take to minimise these, and the measurement and management of carbon emissions from supply chains.

New areas of expertise

As the Centre has expanded our research has diversified into new areas, such as humanitarian logistics, purchasing and supply management, sustainable road freight, shipping and ports, modelling and climate change, supply chain management risk and resilience.
