Green Logistics

Green Logistics is a four-year EPSRC-funded research project into the sustainability of logistics systems and supply chains.

The Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds leads a research consortium comprising itself and the research centres at Cardiff, Heriot-Watt, Lancaster, Southampton and Westminster Universities.

The framework focuses on freight transport operations. Within logistics systems, after all, it is the transport function, which is by far the main source of negative externalities. Transport has also been identified as the only major sector whose CO2 emissions are forecast to increase over the next twenty years.
