Recycle your WEEE with us!
Why recycle electricals?
Unwanted electrical equipment or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is the UKs fastest growing type of waste. The good news is, electrical items can be repaired or recycled – saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.
How can we help?
We are trialing a 12 week scheme where members of the public can drop off their unwanted small electrical items at one of our local convenience stores/newsagents so that they can be collected and sent for repair or recycling. By offering convenient, local drop off points that are closer to the community, we hope to reduce the amount of WEEE going to landfill. The service is entirely FREE and is to test whether this alternative route for recovering WEEE items will increase WEEE repair and recycling rates.
